Our Commitment To Safety

Jhuthi's Enterprises Ltd personnel during a toolbox talk.

People are our greatest resource and most valuable asset. We value their safety above all else. Our safety program is rooted in the belief that when you put people first, success will follow. Our value based safety program requires worker buy in and global thinking, as opposed to a priory based program which emphasizes specific tasks, outcomes and statistical results. At Jhuthi's Enterprises Ltd, Safety is everyone’s job. We encourage employees to think of working safely as protecting their neighbors, their families and friends. Safety is a way of life and a constant endeavor. Our goal is simple: “We want every worker to go home safely every night”.

Our management provides the leadership, vision, and resources needed to implement an effective safety and health program. Our management leadership always ensure that we:

  • Make worker safety and health a core organizational value.
  • Are fully committed to eliminating hazards, protecting workers, and continuously improving workplace safety and health.
  • Provide sufficient resources to implement and maintain the safety and health program.
  • Visibly demonstrate and communicate our safety and health commitment to workers and others.
  • Set an example for the best safety practices in the industry.

For us to lead the safety way, here are some of the actions Jhuthi's Enterprises Ltd takes to ensure a serious commitment to best safety, health and environment practices.

HSSE Program design

As a company in the industry of civil engineering, we fully understand the risks and hazards related to our services and operations. And for that reason, a robust HSE program is not just key to the productivity of our company but more importantly to the safety of all our personnel, workers, subcontractors, suppliers. Given high risks related to our operations, preventing accidents and ill health caused by work is a key priority for everyone in our organization. Like we always say, people are our greatest asset, Jhuthi's Enterprises Ltd is entirely committed to make all our staff, workers, clients, suppliers and subcontractors know how to work safely and without risks to their health.

We make this possible by providing the minimum information on:

  • Hazards and risks
  • Measures to deal with hazards and risks
  • How to follow any emergency procedures

We provide Health & Safety information and training to:

  • Ensure all our employees are not injured or made ill by the work environment
  • Develop a positive Health & Safety culture
  • Meet our legal duty to protect the environment from various pollution that may be a result of our operations and to ensure best safety practices in all the operations and projects we may be carrying out on behalf of all our clients

By our training program we:

  • Contribute towards making our employees competent in Health & Safety
  • We spare our organization the distress that accidents and ill health cause
  • We avoid the financial costs of accidents & occupational ill health

Our HSSE Training program helps our employees and staff to learn how to do something, what they are not expected to do and what they are supposed to do in all situations and operations, or simply giving them information.

Through our training programs, our entire personnel become more motivated, acquainted and committed to safety by demonstrating workforce competence, professionalism and excellence, something that all our clients should always expect from us as a minimum for doing business with us.

Action item 1: We communicate our commitment to a safety and health program

Jhuthi's Enterprises Ltd develops Health, Safety, Security and Environment policies as a standard for everyone involved with us and communication of policies is thereafter ensured. Through different means of communicating these policies to the appropriate audience, we always intend to make it clear that safety and health is our primary organizational value and how it is as important as productivity, profitability, product or service quality, and customer satisfaction.

How do we to accomplish this?

After deliberations, we establish written policies signed by our top management describing our organization's commitment to safety and health and pledging to establish and maintain a safety and health program for all workers and staff.

  • We communicate these policies to all our personnel and, at appropriate times and places, to relevant parties, including:
    • Subcontractors, staffing agencies, and temporary workers at our worksite(s)
    • Suppliers and vendors
    • Visitors
    • Clients
  • We reinforce management commitment by considering safety and health in all decisions, including subcontractor and vendor selection, purchasing, and facility design and modification.
  • We make them visible and accessible in all our operations. All our policies can be accessed from this website

Action item 2: We define program goals

By establishing specific goals and objectives, our management sets expectations for all the staff according to our organizational chart and for the program overall. Our goals and objectives are focused on specific actions that improve workplace safety and health.

How do we accomplish this?
  • We establish realistic, measurable goals for improving safety and health including emphasized goals on injury and illness prevention.
  • We develop plans to achieve those goals by assigning tasks and responsibilities to particular people, setting time-frames, and determining resource needs.

Action item 3: We allocate resources

Jhuthi's Enterprises Ltd management provides the resources needed to implement the safety and health program, pursue program goals, and address program shortcomings when they are identified.

How do we accomplish this?
  • We estimate the resources needed to establish and implement the program.
  • We allow time in workers' schedules for them to fully participate in the program.
  • We integrate safety and health into planning and budgeting processes and align budgets with program needs.
  • We also provide and direct resources to operate and maintain the program, meet safety and health commitments, and pursue program goals.

Action item 4: Finally, we expect performance

Jhuthi's Enterprises Ltd management leads the program effort by establishing roles and responsibilities and providing an open, positive environment that encourages communication about safety and health.

How do we accomplish this?
  • We identify front line personnel to lead the safety program effort, make plans, coordinate activities, and track progress. We define and regularly communicate responsibilities and authorities for implementing and maintaining the program and hold people accountable for performance.
  • We provide positive recognition for meeting or exceeding safety and health goals aimed at preventing injury and illness (e.g., reporting close calls/near misses, attending training, conducting inspections).
  • We establish ways for management and all workers to communicate freely and often about safety and health issues without fear of retaliation.
